Dear Dana Families and Friends:

 

First off, I would like to send a very special thank you to our wonderful PTA for their support and hard work on last week’s Incoming 6thGrade Mixer.  Felicia Villarreal did an amazing job organizing the event and the support from our parent community truly made the event special.  It was also great to see members from all of Wiseburn Unified School District’s PTAs and WEF who were on hand to help support the Mixer.  The students had a great time!  Thank you all! 

 

This week includes our signature Student Led Conferences.  For our 7th and 8th grade parents, I know you share my excitement and enthusiasm for the event.  For our 6th grade parents, you are in for a special and rewarding treat where you will be able to share time with your child and see the work he/she has completed this year.  I am certain you will leave in high spirits after the event.  Our awesome Dana PTA will be out in force again as they provide a small reception area for our families.  Please pay close attention to the special schedule(s) we have this coming week (see below).

LA County Toy Loan Program

"Would you like to do some spring cleaning and help foster kids? Please donate to the LA County Toy Loan Program bin located in the front office of DANA middle school. We are accepting new or gently used toys such as dolls, books, and stuffed animals."

 

Play Production Spring Showcase

Please come out to Dana’s MPR to see our talented theater students in action under the direction of Mrs. Deanna Ableser.  They will showcase a variety of performances that are sure to be very well done.  See the schedule below (Monday/Tuesday) for more detailed information regarding show times. 

 

7 Grade DC trip 2018 -

Trip registration information will be available in the MPR on Student Led Conference night, Thursday, May 25. Mrs. Ory will be available to talk with parent/guardians and students, and will answer any questions that you may have. Registration packets are currently available in the Dana Library, reminder that the early registration fee will end in the first week of June.

 

McTeacher's Night - mcteacher dana 2017 flyer.pdf 

McTeacher’s Night is Tuesday, May 30th from 3:30pm to 6:30pm at the McDonald's on Rosecrans Ave. in Hawthorne. All proceeds go to Dana’s PTA. No flyer needed.

Take Part Festival - TakePARTFestivalFinal.png 

The annual TakePART festival will take place Saturday, June 3 at Leuzinger High School from 10:00am-2:00pm (Please see attached flyer).The TakePART Festival is a celebration of student art supported by five local school districts as opportunity to showcase student art, dance and music. Enjoy Student Performances and Art Exhibits! Wiseburn and Da Vinci will have student art work displayed and some of our Dana student musicians will participate in this event as well. Family-friendly activities for all ages! Admission is FREE!

 

Career Day

Career Day will be held Friday, June 9th from 8:30am-11:00am. If you are interested in speaking at Career Day, please contact Ms. Enge (counselor) at menge@wiseburn.k12.ca.us or 310-725-4712 for further details. Thank you!

 

Summer Camp 2017 – Da Vinci Schools
Da Vinci is offering six camps this summer for students entering grades 1-9. Join us for hands-on activities and exciting exploration in Robotics, Art Studio, Computer Programming, Graphic Design, Speech & Debate, and Board Games. Registration is now available for all camps, July 10-14 and July 17-21. All camps will take place at Da Vinci Science, 13500 Aviation Blvd.

Week 1: July 10-14
Week 2: July 17-21

Cost is $150 per session. Lunch supervision will be offered at no cost for campers who attend both AM and PM sessions. All campers should bring water bottles and snacks.
