Dear Dana families and friends,

The start of the school year is an exciting time for parents, students, and staff. We hope everyone had a restful and fun filled summer, but we are ready to open our blue gates and kick off the 2018-2019 school year! With school starting in a few days, this marks the first weekly update of the year. Messages will be sent Sunday morning to recap the previous week and provide information about the upcoming one.

This past week was focused on last minute prepping for the start of the year and our 6th Grade WEB Orientation. Thank you to the 6th grade families that visited our campus on Friday to learn more about Dana and our love of technology. I appreciated and enjoyed the opportunity to meet the parents and guardians of our newest Dana Dolphins.

Please note that the first week of school has a unique schedule. We begin the year on Tuesday August 28th and will be dismissing at 11:45 am. Wednesday will be another 11:45 am dismissal followed by Thursday and Friday dismissals at 1:00 pm. In order to allow our students time to meet and know their teachers, students will have all periods every day this week. We will begin our traditional block scheduling the following week. Attached is our school calendar that outlines our entire year and is a great resource for parents.

Although students that remember their PowerSchool log-in will be able to view their schedule on Monday evening, this is not required. There will be class lists posted near the library that direct students to their appropriate homeroom. Teachers will provide students with a copy of their schedule in homeroom.

I look forward to a bustling campus on Tuesday!

Take care,

Kiana Clark

Attention 7th grade parents

In preparation for your child entering 7th grade this fall he/she will need a Tdap booster after their seventh birthday. If your student has had the booster please send proof into the Health Office as soon as possible. This booster is required for students to begin their 7th grade year. A helpful website to answer your questions about California state requirements is: http://www.shotsforschool.org/k-12/
