Dear Dana Families and Friends,

 

It is hard to believe that we are already through our first full month of school and are entering October. October is a fun filled and packed month for Dana students and the community. This week is our first session of 6th grade camp and we wish the Sea Stars the most wonderful camp experience. I know the students and staff alike will enjoy the great outdoors, fresh air, and fun activities.

 

We start the month with 6th grade camp and wrap it up with our awesome PTSA sponsored Spooktacular event. Thank you to our amazing PTSA that hosted its first Spooktacular meeting this past Thursday.  A special thanks to the parents that came out and already signed up to volunteer for the event. Please see below for more information and ways to volunteer at Spooktacular.

 

I wish everyone a wonderful week and can’t wait to hear all the Sea Stars’ camp stories.

Canvas Parent Mornings


Canvas is our one-stop shop for teachers, students, and parents. Our learning management system enables families and teachers to stay connected and apprised of assignments, grades, and assessments. Dana is offering drop-in Canvas hours to help parents/guardians become observers on their child’s account. Every Monday for the month of October there will be Canvas hours and an opportunity to learn more about Canvas and how to stay connected.

 

Dates: 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, and 10/22.
Time: 8:30-9:30am
Location: Room 201

Catalina Trip Update
The lottery went well last Monday, and the lists will continue to be posted by the library door. We will notify parents in the event we are able to move students from the wait list up onto the trip list. This coming Tuesday, students who are on the trip list will receive a deposit request to take home to their parent/guardian. A deposit of $100 is required to hold your child’s spot.  After the first quarter grade check in November students who are struggling with grades and/or behavior will receive a warning to improve, but will not be dropped at that time. All parent/guardians and students agreed to the Academic/Behavior Requirements before participating in the trip lottery. We encourage all students to work hard and do their very best.

 

Yearbook Sale opens October 1!
Yearbook Early Bird sales pricing will go home with students next week.

Student info was uploaded into the program, just search for your child’s name, and place your order. This special pricing will end on October 12, don’t miss out.  Order on-line at yearbookforever.com.

 

Wiseburn Education Foundation Annual Appeal Campaign
The Wiseburn Education Foundation Annual Appeal Campaign is underway. Our school is fortunate to have WEF as a community partner. Donations to WEF provided funding for visual and performing arts education, teachers’ grants, healthy lifestyles programs, and STEM education. Free or Reduced Lunch Applications
Students that qualified for Free or Reduced lunch status last year and have not submitted a lunch application for the 2018-2019 school year will have their status changed to full pay effective Wednesday, October 10, 2018. For further details please read the attached letter from our Food Services Department.

Students vote for ASB officers in the library before/after school and during morning/lunch recess. Poll workers are still needed, see Mrs. Ory.
